      Dr. Roger Frankel is a consulting neurosurgeon at Shepherd Center and the president of Atlanta Brain and Spine Care. With board certification in neurosurgery, Dr. Frankel specializes in diagnosing and treating degenerative and injury-related spinal disorders. His extensive expertise is underscored by his participation in clinical research trials and numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.<\/p>\n

      Dr. Frankel’s academic journey began at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in biology. He then attended New York University (NYU) School of Medicine in New York City, earning his medical degree with honors in pathology. During his time at NYU, he conducted groundbreaking research on brain tumor genetics, culminating in a defended research thesis. Dr. Frankel continued his neurosurgical training at Emory University in Atlanta, completing his residency from 1992 to 1999. His research contributions during this period included studies on brain tumors, pituitary disorders, and the surgical treatment of arteriovenous malformations.<\/p>\n

      Throughout his career, Dr. Frankel has held several prominent positions. He served as the chairman of the Department of Neuroscience and president of the Section of Neurosurgery at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. Additionally, he was the medical director of Neurosurgical Services at Shepherd Center from 2011 to 2015, where he played a pivotal role in advancing neurosurgical care.<\/p>\n

      Dr. Frankel is actively involved in several prestigious medical societies and organizations. His memberships include the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the Georgia Neurosurgical Society, the Medical Association of Georgia, and the Medical Association of Atlanta.
