It\u2019s easy, that quick, and it\u2019s that common. It\u2019s also one of the most preventable causes of spinal cord injuries. According to the <a class=\"\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/sites.uab.edu\/nscisc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center<\/a>, diving is the fifth leading cause of spinal cord injury for men and women. These injuries occur in all types of water environments, including swimming pools, lakes, rivers, creeks, and swimming holes.<\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\">\n\t<div class=\"idf-block text-content\">\n\t\t<h2>Diving injury prevention tips<\/h2>\n<p>Follow these essential tips to reduce your risk of injury:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Always enter the water feet first.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Never dive into shallow water\u2014even in pools.<\/strong> Some injuries occur by hitting the far side of a pool or swimming hole, so depth isn\u2019t the only risk factor.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be mindful of hidden objects<\/strong> in lakes, rivers, and other natural bodies of water.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoid alcohol while swimming or diving.<\/strong> It impairs judgment and increases the risk of injury.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remember, your body acts like a torpedo when diving.<\/strong> Water will not protect you from a severe impact if you hit an object or the bottom.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conditions change over time.<\/strong> A spot you used to dive in might no longer be safe due to shifts in underwater surfaces or other environmental factors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\">\n\t<div
