    Journey to the peer support program<\/h2>\n

    I was in a car accident in May of 2014, when I was only weeks away from my high school graduation. I got ejected from the car and suffered a spinal cord injury. I remember turning down peer support when I was inpatient because I didn\u2019t think I needed it. As time passed in my recovery, I started to float towards peer support because I found they could help provide the answers I was looking for. I love the work peer support does. The work inspired me to do the same thing for others who end up being patients at the Shepherd Center.<\/p>\n

    Role and tenure<\/h2>\n

    I had been volunteering in the program since 2015. Hired in March of 2024, I am the newest Peer Support Liaison. I share my personal experiences with patients so they can have an example of a new way of living.<\/p>\n

    Favorite thing about the program<\/h2>\n

    One of my favorite things about the program is seeing how the patients respond to the program and the progress they make each week.<\/p>\n

    Life outside Shepherd Center<\/h2>\n
